CRIMINOLOGICAL PROFILE OF PERSONS COMMITTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING FOR THE PURPOSE OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

Abstract

The article on the basis of the analysis of the available empirical base (300 materials of criminalcases) develops the criminological profile of persons who committed human trafficking for the purpose of sexualexploitation.The article establishes that among 401 persons convicted for trafficking in human beings for the purpose ofexploitation of humans, 332 persons (82,8%) were convicted for committing this act for the purpose of sexualexploitation. It was found that among persons convicted of trafficking for sexual exploitation 57,8% are women, while only42,2% are male. The age of convicts for the act of trafficking for sexual exploitation is distributed as follows: up to18 years – 0,9%, from 18 to 24 years – 12,3%, 25–29 years – 29,5%, 30–39 years – 31,3%, 40–49 years – 15,4%,50–59 years – 6,6%, 60 years and older – 3,9%.The article finds that those convicted of trafficking for sexual exploitation are characterized by a high level ofeducation: 20,5% have higher education, 5,8% – incomplete higher education, 8% – technical secondary, 19,6% –special secondary, 37% – complete general secondary education, 8% – incomplete secondary education, another0,9% have no education.The vast majority (74,4%) of those convicted of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitationdo not work anywhere. 13% of those convicted of this crime were employees, 5,7% were engaged in small businessactivities, 4,2% were retired, and 2,7% were students of higher educational institutions.Among those convicted of trafficking for sexual exploitation, only 29,5% were married, while 70,5% had nofamily. Among the investigated category of people, 41,9% had dependent children.The article finds that among those convicted of trafficking for sexual exploitation, 88,6% were citizens ofUkraine, 11,1% – citizens of other countries, 0.3% – bipatrids. Among foreigners who committed this crime, thelargest number were Russian citizens – 37,8%.Among those convicted of trafficking for sexual exploitation, 80,7% were urban dwellers, 15,7% were ruralresidents, and 3,6% were small towns dwellers.Among persons convicted of trafficking for sexual exploitation 93,4% did not have a criminal record. 75,3% ofpersons convicted of this crime committed it by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, 14,8% – by an organizedgroup. 9,9% of persons committed this act alone.It has been established that persons who committed a crime of human trafficking in human beings for the purposeof sexual exploitation possess such negative moral and psychological traits as the desire to make money and ensuretheir own well-being at any cost, egocentrism, cynicism, emotional coldness, inability to empathize, as well asentrepreneurship, energy, purposefulness, organizational skills, ability to persuade others.
